Virtual Toxicology

COSMIC's Virtual Toxicology module provides a comprehensive, multi-layered safety assessment for every ingredient in your formula — without requiring animal testing. The system cross-references each component against regulatory databases from 8 global markets (European Union, United States, China, Japan, Korea, ASEAN, Brazil, and Canada), hazard classification systems, published concentration limits, and scientific literature on sensitization, irritation, and systemic toxicity.

The assessment operates across six distinct layers: regulatory status (prohibited, restricted, or allowed in each target market), GHS hazard classification codes, concentration-dependent risk thresholds (is this ingredient safe at the percentage you are using?), sensitization potential based on published clinical data, cumulative exposure modeling, and data completeness scoring (how much scientific evidence exists for this ingredient?).

Each ingredient receives a risk score from 0 to 100, weighted by its percentage in the formula. The overall formula score gives your formulator an instant read on the safety profile: LOW risk (green), MEDIUM (amber), or HIGH (red). High-risk ingredients are flagged with specific remediation suggestions — reduce concentration, replace with a safer alternative, or add a stabilizing agent.

The Virtual Toxicology report is included in every formula PDF. It provides the data your regulatory team needs to make informed decisions about market submissions, safety assessments, and product claims. It does not replace a formal toxicological evaluation by a qualified safety assessor, but it dramatically accelerates the preliminary screening that precedes one.
