Patent Explorer

Before launching a new formulation, every cosmetic company should check: is the active combination I am about to commercialize already covered by a competitor's patent? The Patent Explorer runs this check against two public patent databases — EPO (European Patent Office) and Lens.org — with a single query.

Type keywords (ingredient combinations, product type, desired effect), pick the max result count, and the tool returns matched patents with title, applicant, priority date, patent number, publication country, and an abstract preview. Every result has a 'View Patent' link that opens the full filing (forced to English via Google Patents machine translation).

Results can be filtered client-side by product type (Face Cream, Body Cream, Sunscreen, Foundation, Serum, Peptide, Preservative, Moisturizer, Anti-aging) with a one-click chip narrower. PDF export is available for documentation. For any formula generated in COSMIC, a lightweight patent scan is automatically included in the Formula Report — the Explorer is the standalone version for deeper freedom-to-operate research.
