Start by finding the product you want to clone. COSMIC gives you three ways to search: browse by brand and product category (318,000+ products from major global retailers), search by free text (e.g. 'vitamin C serum with niacinamide'), or search by specific ingredients (find all products containing your target actives). Each product listing includes the photo, brand, year of first detection on the market, available sizes, variants, and retail price.

Once you select a product, the platform parses its full INCI list against a catalog of 33,000+ ingredients. Our intelligent matching engine resolves label variations — abbreviations, alternate spellings, regional naming conventions, color index codes — so you get a clean, matched ingredient table with phase assignments, estimated concentrations, safety scores, and regulatory status.

Before cloning, your formulator can fine-tune the brief: set the target skin type, choose a texture profile, define free-from claims (paraben-free, silicone-free, etc.), select target markets for regulatory compliance. The platform automatically detects conflicts — for example, if the source product contains silicones but you set a silicone-free claim, COSMIC flags the issue and suggests alternatives.
